Job Summary:

Reporting to the Project Manager/Superintendent, the Electrical Technician performs all necessary inspections, tests, and maintenance on his assigned territory. The Electrical Technician may be called on to assist other Maintainers as required. The Electrical Technician must promptly answer trouble calls on his territory, and on other maintainer's territories on his call cycle. The work is physically demanding and performed outdoors in a field environment, near live track.

The Electrical Technician will be required to work rotational shift (Days, Afternoons, & Nights)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain his/her territory in optimal condition to reduce or avoid trouble calls.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in ready-for-service condition.
  • Perform all periodic inspection and tests as per railway and PNR standards.
  • Perform special duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Work cooperatively with other maintainers on technical issues and troubleshooting.
  • Perform general labour tasks as necessary including operating equipment.
  • Comply with railway and PNR safe work practices and signal work procedures.
  • Perform all administrative duties related to proper documentation as per ISO requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of field electrical experience
  • Must hold a valid G driver's license
  • Diploma in Electrical Technology or Technician an asset
  • Experience in Signals & Communications field experience an asset
  • Please note this is an entry level position for those that have 1-2 years experience.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Exposure to live track/trains and high voltage.
  • Work is safety sensitive and protective equipment is required.
  • Travel to work sites is required.
