JOB SUMMARY


The Transit Services Department is responsible for providing a holistic transportation hub focused on addressing the planning, implementation, operations, and delivery of all modes of transportation in the City of Ottawa.

Rail Systems Branch provides oversight of the maintenance contractors which includes corrective and planned maintenance, life cycle management, trending, and analysis within Transit Engineering Services. The oversight includes both diesel and electric rail vehicles, track and infrastructure, stations, systems, and overall maintenance planning.

You are responsible for monitoring and performing data analysis of the maintenance and performance of stationary assets and rolling stock of OC Transpo rail systems and responsible for developing, preparing, and presenting statistical/analytical reports, and identifying trends in overall performance to management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


A 3-year Community College Diploma or University Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

A minimum of 3 years' experience in data management and analysis, or other related experience with fleet & systems trend analysis, rail vehicles, communication systems, statistical software language (Python and R)

Experience working with SQL database and RAMs would be considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of issues and principles pertaining to Transit Operations, l
  • Principles and methodologies of evaluation and project risk management
  • Principles and techniques of project and contract management, including monitoring, cost containment/control and reporting
  • Transit operation activities including signaling, rail traffic control railway operating rules, railway governance, planning and scheduling principles
  • Knowledge of large-scale commercial construction and related activities
  • Evaluation methods/techniques and project risk management, including risk management principles to ensure contractor safety in and near the rail corridors
  • Related federal, provincial, and engineering legislation, regulations, standards, codes, and by-laws pertaining to environmental impact assessment, building, fire, health and safety, construction process and requirements
  • Knowledge of computers and project management software including MS Office Suite programs, Power BI and SAP
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
