The Role:

We boast a seasoned multi-disciplinary crew ready to support your land development endeavor. To guarantee seamless project delivery, we provide an all-encompassing approach and a comprehensive array of services. Whether it's crafting commercial plans or orchestrating urban subdivisions, we strive to uncover optimal solutions, positioning ourselves as your trusted partner in land development. Armed with a wealth of project experience and an in-depth grasp of municipal requirements, the Egis team has expertise in the municipal approvals process.

Tailoring our approach to the specific nature of the development, we meticulously prepare engineering documents necessary for submission. These documents serve as a testament to our unwavering commitment to adhere to municipal design standards and criteria, assuring the municipality that the proposed development won't adversely affect adjacent properties or downstream infrastructure.

Embedded within Egis's land development process is a thorough assessment of natural features on each site. Our meticulous plans are designed to minimize environmental impacts while ensuring the sustainable development of your project.

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5 years of design experience with land development related projects;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario;
  • Design skills with good working knowledge of Civil 3D/AutoCAD;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French would be considered an asset);
  • Familiarity with subdivision registration and site plan approval processes required;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Previous experience in project management with land development related projects;
  • Working knowledge of Stormwater modeling programs (SWYMHO, HEC-RAS, EPASWM, EPANET, Culvert Master, Flow master, etc.) and Water modeling programs (WaterGEMs, EPANET, etc.) would be an asset;
  • Experience working in Ottawa and/or the surrounding area would be considered an asset; and
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with both senior quality control staff and junior staff on engineering design for a wide array of projects including both subdivision and site plans. Engineering design will include storm and sanitary servicing, watermain design, lot grading and drainage design, utility coordination and contract administration;
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for engineering interns and technologists and provide guidance and mentoring to junior/intermediate staff;
  • Prepare technical specifications and reports;
  • Liaise with our long-standing repeat clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
  • Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Perform project management responsibilities such as working with a project team to produce project deliverables, completion of invoicing, client meetings, meetings with reviewing agencies and regulatory bodies, project scheduling and management of project subconsultants;
  • Participate in the preparation of engineering services proposals; and
  • Monitor industry standards and developments, assessing client needs and make concrete decisions on proposed solutions.
