Hybrid Work Model

Job Description

The Manager, Software Development - Security is a leader and a coach for the Security team. Responsible for keeping the team motivated and engaged in delivering high-quality, scalable and secure software that addresses key business problems.

This role brings the context of the business to the software development team, mentoring and guiding them to the right solution. They are viewed by the rest of the business as effective and trustworthy partners.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports;
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing and engaged team;
  • Coach their team to deliver high-quality, scalable features that fit Assent's business context and solve problems for our customers;
  • Champion product quality in their team;
  • Oversee IAM (Identity and Access management) alignment with the architecture team;
  • Manage product releases by monitoring progress to plan and proactively making necessary adjustments to meet delivery schedule, and requirements;
  • Establish and maintain a rapport with other teams in the product value chain (Product Management, User Experience, Quality Assurance, Customer Success, and Infrastructure) to represent IAM.
  • In partnership with the AppSec team:
    • Analyze reports from the scan, prioritize it and drive an action plan for closure;
    • Maintain awareness of evolving threats, trends, and technologies; and performing knowledge sharing with other members of the team;
  • Evangelize, maintain, and improve product development processes within and across teams;
  • Visualize upcoming work;
  • Manage product releases by monitoring progress to plan and proactively making necessary adjustments to meet delivery schedule, and requirements;
  • Ensure their team is developing software that follows Assent's Design Guidelines and Coding Standards, Assent's Security Guidelines, and any other guidelines that may be provided by the Architecture team from time to time;

Qualifications

We strongly value your talent, energy and passion. It will also be valuable to Assent if you have the following qualifications,

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a Software Development role, with a proven track record in a similar leadership role;
  • Experience with and understanding of Cloud native AWS and/or cloud infrastructure platforms and their security;
  • Familiarity with security control frameworks like National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Security Control Framework (SCF).
