JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Grid Technology, the Supervisor Grid Technology Support is responsible for coordinating, directing and scheduling activities of the Grid Technology Support section. Strong supervisory skills and a thorough understanding of ITSM and operations technology systems are key elements of this position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of critical grid technology systems including, SCADA, OMS, DMS, GIS and other engineering software solutions
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Grid Technology Specialists, ensuring effective performance management and professional growth.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex system issues
Manage the hiring process for full-time, summer students and contractors.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.
Monitor ticket queues, prioritize requests and ensure adherence to established procedures and service level agreements.
Coordinate with project managers, SCADA projects field deployment and energization
Ensure the reliable performance of grid technologies, minimizing downtime and maximizing system efficiency.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency
Develop and implement operational procedures and protocols, including knowledge base articles and troubleshooting guides
Contribute to the planning and execution of grid modernization projects including the implementation of new technologies and system upgrades.
Collaborate with vendors, contractors and internal divisions to ensure successful project delivery.
Ensure compliance with all safety and cybersecurity standards
Negotiate digital mapping and data acquisitions from external parties.
Participate in the budget process for the Grid Technology group, approve expenditures up to the corporate signing authority and monitor section expenses.
Participate in regular rotational after hours on-call technical support responsibilities as required.
Support the corporate health and safety program within the areas of responsibility, report unsafe conditions and promote safe work procedures
Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary education in a technical or business discipline.
Minimum 5 years experience in a related industry with a deep understanding of grid technology systems including SCADA.
Minimum 5 years experience leading a team of operational support resources
Familiarity with industry best practices for grid operations, maintenance and cybersecurity is considered an asset.
Familiarity with ITIL standards for service management
Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably Google Workspace
English essential, both oral and written: Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
