About the role

Reporting to the Ontario Casualty Technical Services Claims Manager, the Training Consultant, Casualty will support the Ontario Casualty COE by creating and delivering relevant training materials and courses to improve the effectiveness of Casualty Claims personnel . This will include identifying training needs, analyzing training programs, measuring its effectiveness, and coordinating the administration and implementation of activities related to the training calendar. May also be assigned special projects to examine the Casualty Claims business or represent the Casualty Claims business on multi-disciplinary teams.

This is a 1-year contract/secondment opportunity that can be based in any of the following Intact Ontario offices: Ajax/London/Mississauga/Ottawa/Richmond Hill or Toronto.

What you'll do here:

  • Facilitate new hiring and training within Ontario Casualty Claims
  • Delivers courses directly to Casualty Claims personnel in person and/or virtually incorporating multiple learning styles. Coaches and mentors professionals until they have mastered the course material.
  • Ensure learning outcomes are met by developing learning tests/evaluations, analyzing results, and monitoring post training behaviours of participants.
  • Analyze results and develop new and effective solutions for current training initiatives.
  • Seek out areas of opportunity for improvement by providing solutions that result in improved training material, internal training processes and current learning methods.
  • Recommend solutions to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness while enhancing the experience provided to internal clients.
  • Partner with other business units to identify training needs.
  • Leverage external resources and learnings to develop teaching strategies that support the principles of workplace training.


What you bring to the table:

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • Two years of claims experience is required
  • Casualty Claims experience is considered a strong asset
  • Educational background in Adult Education is an asset
  • Strong understanding of adult education/learning theories and effective delivery of material to a variety of audiences
  • Proven and demonstrated technical knowledge in insurance systems, products and guidelines.
  • Strong proficiency in oral and written communication skills and effective facilitation
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Can engage an audience
  • Solution oriented
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
