What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Manual Worker you will:

• perform general park maintenance functions
• carry out facility inspections
• assist with the operation of the park's water treatment facility
• promote compliance with park rules and regulations
• advise, report and record problems, violations and complaints to park duty officer
• assist with training and leadership

How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirements:

• You must possess a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario.
• You must have the ability to obtain a CPR and Emergency First Aid certificate.
• You must be able to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule.
• You have the physical ability to carry out functions of the positions.

Technical knowledge:

• You possess knowledge of general building, utility maintenance and operating procedures including water, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• You have knowledge of and the ability to apply and interpret policies, procedures and regulations such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• You are knowledgeable of operating standards of the maintenance and sanitation of building facilities and utility maintenance.

Interpersonal skills:

• You have the ability to provide group leadership to student staff and volunteers.
• You are able to work with minimal supervision, follow and carry out instructions.
• You demonstrate customer service skills to deal with staff and contractors.

General skills and knowledge:

• You have the ability to operate and maintain a variety of powered equipment such as chainsaws, lawn mowers and small hand tools.
