The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross' comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.
This role will be primarily focused on supporting the Great Bear project which is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross' comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.
The Design Technician will assist the Kinross technical team to manage and control the engineering firms that will be assigned to develop the detailed engineering for the Great Bear Project. This person will be working on general project layouts to provide concepts to the engineering firms for them to develop the detailed design. Ideally, this person has basic knowledge in various disciplines, such as civil, structural, mechanical and piping as well as processing plant flowsheets and P&IDs in order to modify them under the Kinross engineering manager's supervision. Finally, the Design Technician will assist the GBR team in preparing presentation and reports for the project. The candidate must be proficient in design software with excellent interpersonal skills, strong written communication, and oral presentation skills.
