About the job

In this role, you will:
• manage the infrastructure data and asset management systems, investment planning in support of the multi-year rehabilitation investment plan
• support the development of asset management related policies, procedures, standards, manuals and systems
• provide project management support for asset management and investment planning related projects
• provide support for the development of an investment plan for highway expansion projects

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Technical Expertise:

You have:
• Knowledge of engineering theory, principles and practices related to planning, design, construction, traffic, maintenance and operation of ministry assets within the provincial highway network (e.g., bridges, culverts, pavements, signs, etc.).
• Knowledge of asset management principles and practices that are based on lifecycles and infrastructure deterioration models.
• Knowledge of engineering practices related to cost estimating, risk analysis and capital project development.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques (i.e., value-for-money, economic impact assessment, life cycle costing, benefit/cost analysis), engineering economics, financial and capital planning processes.

Essential Skills:

You have:
• Research, analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct engineering analyses and develop appropriate recommendations to assist management in decision-making.
• Project management and organizational skills to assist in the delivery of asset management and investment planning related projects.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to provide technical/engineering advice, guidance and training to regional and provincial office staff, and to provide written manuals, guidelines, reports, letters, briefing materials, contract documents and other documentation.
• Information and data management skills and techniques using a variety of ministry-specific (e.g., Asset Management System (AMS), Bridge Management System (BMS), Highway Construction (HiCo) and common computer applications (e.g., Power BI, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
