Job Summary

The Electrician is responsible for performing facilities maintenance and repairs to buildings and equipment.

Major Responsibilities

· Perform corrective, reactive and preventative maintenance of facilities buildings, equipment and installations as well as repairs and other project work

· Coordinate with Lead Hand Electrician, Facilities Supervisor, contractors, other CN departments as well as other vendors for assistance or direction as required upon various types of work

Working Conditions

· Position is subject to responding to emergency calls on nights and weekends as required by the Supervisor and Lead Hand

· The role is required to work inside and outside in various conditions

· The role is required to work at heights, confined spaces, and any other areas work is required

· Must service driven as the role works with all departments throughout CN

· Must be safety conscious and capable of ensuring a safe working environment for employees and contractors

· The role requires working away from home for extended periods of time

· The incumbent must be available to work overtime when necessary

Requirements

· Must hold Inter-Provincial Red Seal Electrician Certificate

· Must have valid or be willing to acquire Manitoba Driver's License (Class 3)

· Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings for various types of repair work, maintenance, project work and troubleshooting

· Must have a good working knowledge of power distribution and emergency power systems including high voltage

Training

The Electrician must complete all training sessions as directed by the company. A successful completion of this training is essential for future performance of duties.

This position is a unionized position. As such, pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement.
