Job Duties
•Performs skilled and
•Perform skilled and
•Report to the Manager Residence Facilities and Operations and assist in the solution of problems related to the operation and usage of the Residence buildings, equipment, furniture and vehicles.
•Maintain appropriate work records
•Provide instructions and assign daily work
•Assists contractors by providing information about Residence buildings
•Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Employment Opportunity
•Grade 12 education and completion of tradesman qualifications or technical school graduation in a trade such as carpentry, painting, general construction, or a combination of equivalent experience and education; carpentry certificate preferred
•Considerable knowledge in methods and practices of a particular trade as demonstrated by a trade certificate
•General knowledge of recognized practices, safe work habits and techniques employed in construction and maintenance
•Ability to perform heavy manual work
•Ability to follow oral and written instructions
•Ability to work with minimal supervision
•Ability to deal courteously with staff, students and the general public
•Must have a good work record
•Must have a good record of attendance and punctuality
•Must have a valid driver's license
•Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and other health and safety related legislation and standards
Working Conditions
●Primarily an 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift, Monday to Friday
●When required, hours of work may be modified to address the needs of the University
