At SMS Equipment, our Welding Supervisors are responsible for the safe, efficient and economical operation of the welding facilities. The incumbent will oversee welding activities, supervise and assist tradespeople. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their experience, leadership and safety consciousness to our team in Timmins, ON.

The shift rotations available for this position are 7x7 or 14x14. Accommodations are available.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the welding shop and field operations.
  • Ensure operation requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling activities.
  • Conduct inspections and final evaluations to ensure SMS quality.
  • Ensures payroll and human resources policies and procedures are met and enforced.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure tradespeople are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices are followed.
  • Track and arrange C.W.B. training, OHSE required training, and site-specific orientations.
  • Provide service information to customers and resolve any service issues
  • Resolve issues by asking questions, determine the cause, explain best solutions and follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years experience as a qualified Welder as well as a minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory position. Additional requirements include:

  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment
  • Journeyperson certification (red seal) in Welding is required.
  • Organized and highly motivated with good time management skills.
  • Possess a strong customer focus.
  • Strong computer skills, to include Microsoft Office.
  • Has knowledge of C.W.B, OH&S acts, and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
  • Valid Class 5/G drivers license.
