Our Canada offices are looking for a Communications Manager to be based in Toronto or Montreal, who will be an essential communications liaison to all Canadian offices and an integral member of the Americas Communications team.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the key point of contact and strategic counsel in Canada on all communications-related activities and contribute to the Americas communications strategies across the business portfolios of 1) Property, Science, Industry, and Technology – and Social Infrastructure, including Healthcare; 2) Transport including Aviation, Rail, Roads and Streets; 3) Energy, Water, and Resources; 4) Advisory Services; 5) Technical Services; 6) Digital Services; Cities, Planning, and Design; and 7) Climate Services and Sustainability.
  • Collaborate with local Canada office leaders, communications and marketing colleagues, business leaders, and technical teams to develop, manage, and implement comprehensive integrated PR and communications plans aligned with our strategy (internal and external) and build and guard reputation and brand.
  • Participate in team meetings with experts to identify important internal and external engagement opportunities and execute them.
  • Set up and coordinate PR opportunities, including pitching experts and projects to target media. Build and maintain relationships with essential Canada media and influencers; communicate with press regularly.
  • Initiate and guide discussions to develop campaigns that tell our stories across a variety of channels and use the latest communications best practices and tools.
  • Partner with other communications experts on our team to create strategic and compelling content/stories, narratives, and presentations in a variety of formats.
  • Understand dynamics of business and the sector in which it operates, leveraging understanding to identify new communications opportunities. Passion for delivering industry defining and market-facing campaigns.
  • Learn, grow, contribute to, and guide a high-performing team.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual a must (speak, read, write) – English and French
  • Minimum 6 years of external communications experience, preferably with at least 2 years leading and strategizing projects, and managing staff
  • Combination of both in-house and (PR/marketing) agency and corporate communications background or a variety of AEC business, innovation and impact domains preferred.
  • Experience in external communications, public relations and digital tactics to create integrated PR campaigns; ability to think strategically, building and implementing plans that drive results.
  • Ideally, brings media relationships across Canada.
  • Superior organization and project management skills with ability to drive, develop and implement multiple communications strategies/programs in partnership with experts, concurrently without day-to-day oversight and engagement.
  • Exceptional communicator, professionalism, interpersonal skills and client relationship management experience; ability to influence and build partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Proactive self-starter with an ability to uncover and develop stories and content for internal and external use.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Architecture / Built environment / Design studies, Urban planning, Liberal Arts or related field. Interest in corporate communications, sustainable development, social impact, and digital innovation.
  • Motivated to make a difference with a highly collaborative team.

Toronto Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $90,000 – 100,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.

Arup Canada cherche un(e) responsable des communications pour son bureau de Montréal ou de Toronto. Le candidat intégrera l’équipe des communications d’Arup des Amériques et assurera notamment la liaison des communications pour l’ensemble de nos bureaux au Canada.

Responsabilités

  • Servir de point de contact principal et de conseiller stratégique pour l’ensemble des activités de communication au Canada, et contribuer aux stratégies de communication d’Arup des Amériques dans les secteurs d’affaires suivants : 1) Propriété, science, industrie (PSI); Technologie; Infrastructures sociales incluant les soins de santé; 2) Transport : Aviation, ferroviaire, routes et autoroutes; 3) Énergie, eau et ressources; 4) Services-conseils; 5) Services techniques; 6) Services numériques; Planification et conception des villes; et 7) Développement durable et services climatiques;
  • Collaborer avec les directeurs de groupe locaux, les équipes des Communications et du Marketing, les directeurs de secteur et les équipes techniques dans l’élaboration, la gestion et la mise en œuvre de plans généraux intégrés de relations publiques (RP) et de communication, en adéquation avec notre stratégie (interne et externe); assurer et préserver la notoriété et l’image de marque de l’organisation;
  • Prendre part aux réunions d’équipes d’experts afin d’identifier les opportunités d’engagement internes et externes et d’en assurer la mise en œuvre;
  • Organiser et coordonner les activités de relations publiques, y compris les occasions de promouvoir notre expertise et nos projets auprès de divers marchés et médias cibles; entretenir des relations avec les principaux médias et influenceurs canadiens; communiquer régulièrement avec les représentants de la presse;
  • Engager et orienter les discussions afin de développer des campagnes qui parlent de nous sur une diversité de plateformes; adopter les meilleures pratiques et outils en matière de communication;
  • Collaborer avec les autres spécialistes en communication de l’équipe à la création de contenu, d’histoires, de présentations et de messages stratégiques et convaincants dans différents formats;
  • Comprendre la dynamique de l’organisation et de son champ d’activité afin de cibler les nouvelles opportunités de communication; démontrer un vif enthousiasme pour la réalisation de campagnes novatrices et axées sur les besoins du marché;
  • Contribuer à l’essor d’une équipe hautement performante et progresser au sein de celle-ci.

Êtes-vous la personne qu’il nous faut?

  • Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, à l’oral comme à l’écrit;
  • Au moins six (6) ans d’expérience en communication, dont deux (2) ans d’expérience en gestion et planification stratégique de projets, et en gestion de personnel;
  • Expérience en communication (RP et marketing), à la fois en agence et en entreprise; expérience au sein de l’industrie de l’architecture, de l’ingénierie et de la construction (AEC) et/ou dans les domaines de l’innovation et de l’influence, un atout;
  • Expérience en communication, relations publiques et stratégies numériques axées sur la création de campagnes intégrées; vision stratégique et capacité à élaborer et à mettre en œuvre des plans porteurs de résultats;
  • Capacité à établir des relations avec les médias canadiens;
  • Solides aptitudes en planification et en gestion de projets et capacité à piloter, élaborer et mettre en œuvre de multiples stratégies et programmes de communication, en collaboration avec les experts du milieu, le tout, simultanément et avec un minimum de supervision;
  • Forte capacité à communiquer, professionnalisme, aptitudes interpersonnelles, capacité à gérer les relations avec les clients et à forger des partenariats avec les parties prenantes;
  • Sens de l’initiative, capacité à rédiger et à élaborer des messages et du contenu à des fins internes et externes;
  • Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en communication, marketing, journalisme, architecture, environnement bâti, design, urbanisme, arts ou dans un domaine connexe; vif intérêt pour les communications corporatives et sociomédiatiques, le développement durable, les projets à impact social et l’innovation numérique;
  • Volonté réelle d’influencer le cours des choses, au sein d’un environnement axé sur la collaboration.
