Bridges and Civil Structures Engineering Intern (Available May 2025 - 8 OR 12 month duration)

The opportunity
- Perform preliminary and detailed structural design for new and existing civil structures
- Analyse simple and sophisticated structures using structural analysis software
- Prepare design drawings, calculation packages, and technical reports
- Review and comment on designs, shop drawings, and technical reports from others
- Work collaboratively in large multi-disciplinary teams
- Learning about the Arup Structural Skills Network
- Learning to navigate through codes and guidelines

Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil, or structural engineering
- Coursework in structural analysis, steel design, reinforced concrete design, and civil engineering fundamentals and submission of transcript
- Curiosity about the design of bridges and other civil structures
- Curiosity about sustainable design
- Ability to prioritize effectively and balance assigned work, and organization skills are required for our constantly evolving environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Being proactive, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
Preferred:
- Eligible to become a member of the PEO/OIQ/APEGA
- Structural software skills (Midas, SAP / CSiBridge, etc.), and 2D/3D modelling skills (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Rhino, etc.)
- Programming (Python, etc.) and parametric modeling skills (Grasshopper, Dynamo, etc.)
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and/or on technical design projects
- Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field

Toronto Hiring Range - Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $21.00 to $33.00 per year/hour/month. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
