Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for the supervision and training of kitchen staff, in addition to the production and quality assurance of all menu items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with production planning and maintaining a high level of quality and cleanliness
  • Recommend and implement preparation to reduce costs and supervise all kitchen personnel to ensure correct methodologies are followed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area adhering to food safety and health standards
  • Prioritize production and service plans and organize tasks for yourself and the brigade
  • Ensure all products and ingredients required for the business is in house and communicate with purchasing and management daily while forecasting for days and weeks ahead
  • Advise management of purchasing requirements with a focus on minimizing waste and avoiding product shortages
  • Ensure food ingredients are stored in their designated area and rotated in the proper manner
  • Be responsible for leading the cleaning & organizing of all dry and cold storage areas
  • Provide input into catering menus and work with the chefs to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings including recipe development
  • Work efficiently and effectively to gather, wash, cut, season, cook and store ingredients and ensure top quality
  • Assist Sous Chefs in maintaining accurate daily production records and completing all required documentation, reports, and logs as assigned
  • Train employees: plan, assign and direct work; address complaints and resolve problems

  • 5 years cooking experience in restaurants and large production or catering kitchens
  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
