We have an exciting opportunity in our Property, Planning & Development Department. We are seeking to hire an experienced leader as a Director, Planning and Approvals role
As the Director, Planning and Approvals you will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of the Engineering, Construction and Expansion (ECE) Group's planning and approvals portfolio supporting the Construction Department's capital program. This involves strategic planning, directing and managing functions associated with securing the necessary permits, approvals, agreements and coordinating private and public utility relocations/installations required for the capital and Major Projects portfolio. This will require liaising with various municipal and provincial agencies/departments and utility asset owners.
You will provide a review of capital project design submissions and to assist the project teams through the early identification of potential municipal and/or provincial regulatory permits and approvals for the construction of all capital projects;
Direct/oversee staff's support of the project teams and design consultants regarding all required approvals, as well as initiate discussions and be the main point of contact (or appoint a staff member) between the project teams and the various municipal/provincial agencies and departments.
As the Director you will assure and oversee the liaison with utility asset owners to identify their requirements, monitor the status of any utility work delivered by the asset owners, assist capital project staff in acquiring the necessary approvals to protect, support and/or relocate conflicting utilities, and when required, assist in the development/negotiation of cost sharing arrangements/agreements.
You will plan, direct and manage the activities of staff engaged in related activities to ensure a high level of performance, quality service orientation and professionalism.
