Main Objective:

The DMU Maintenance Manager is responsible to perform the following:

- ensure production targets, quality standards and safety requirements are achieved through the execution of the production plan and through the efficient management of resources.

- ensure trains are delivered on time in a safe, clean and fully functional condition to our customers.

Limits of Authority: Operate and execute within the DMU REMSA agreed upon with Metrolinx and schedule all work as per the DMU Master Maintenance Schedule(MMS).

Key Areas of Work

Safety:
• Execute Alstom's safety plan by completing audits, communicating deviations, investigate incidents, document risk, and support a safety culture by leading by example.
Management:
• Execute the daily operating plan by supporting the supervisors through communication and escalation to the Deputy Senior Manager.
• Follow up with planner on daily maintenance schedule and team up to ensure alignment on maintenance schedule.
• Manage unionized and Direct report absenteeism as per the policy and process.
Administration:
• Ensure all work is recorded through Maximo work orders.
• Ensure compliance with parts issuing.
• Manage unionized Kronos payroll entries by supporting the supervisors.
• Process paperwork and submit to clerk for Maximo entry.
Failure Analysis:
• Investigate service effecting failures and communicate findings in a detailed manner.
• Schedule service repairs and verify quality.

Related Activities

  • Participates in the performance evaluation and succession planning of personnel;
  • Supervises personnel so as to obtain maximum efficiency while applying, in his departments, the company's policies and procedures;

Skill factors - Education/ Experience

  • 5 years+ of management responsibility in a manufacturing or maintenance environment;
  • Effective Technical Knowledge of Metrolinx Go and UP fleets;
  • Effective Operational and scheduling Knowledge of Metrolinx Go and UP fleets;
  • Effective Knowledge of Regulator operational requirements for passenger rail service;
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance, work order and scheduling techniques;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff;
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Knowledge of working procedures and techniques utilized in the trade area;
  • Strong interpersonal skills for the training and coaching activities;
  • Working knowledge of MS office package.
