We have an exciting opportunity in our Finance Department. We are currently hiring a Funds Control Clerk.

What You Will Do

This position is responsible for banking, funds control, and cash flow activities including analysis of variances and processing of e-deposits, pre-authorized debit (PAD) files, and credit card payments. This also involves the daily control of cash inflows and outflows; daily recording of all transaction activities in TTC's main bank accounts, specifically deposits and disbursements by source and type; cash draws from the City of Toronto; deposit of incoming payments and the verification of same with the bank; preparation of cash forecasts and tracking of actual versus forecasted requirements.

You will ensure sufficient funds are available to meet financial commitments through the tracking of actual bank balances in relation to anticipated requirements, coordination of timely issuance of subsidy bills, advise of unusual requirements from other Finance Department sections, and sufficient notice given to the City of required cash draws on the bills for deposit to TTC bank accounts.

In addition, investigate transaction discrepancies and abnormalities immediately by notifying bank and TTC staff; recording and preparing monthly bank memos with GL accounts for posting to SAP General Ledger.

Monitor and analyze monthly bank fees to ensure they are in agreement with the banking contract and reasonable based on transaction volume and activity. Moreover, generate invoices for subsidy; TTC ridership data based on information received from other TTC departments/sections

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of post-secondary education, or the equivalent, combined with related work experience.
  • Prior work experience in a banking or financial environment would be a definite asset.
  • Requires sound knowledge of modern office methods, practices and procedures.
  • Must possess a good knowledge of accounting principles and practices involving financial record keeping.
  • Must be detail-oriented; possess good mathematical skills and good problem solving and organizational abilities to handle various work assignments within established deadlines.
  • Requires proficiency in the use of computers and applications related to the work (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must have good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
