Purpose of Role

The Canadian Greenfields Exploration summer intern will assist the Kinross Greenfield Exploration Canada (KGEC) team with all aspects of exploration fieldwork that will include prospecting and mapping as well as the stripping of outcrops in order to take representative chip and channel samples for gold analysis. Detailed mapping will be conducted on the exposed and washed outcrops.

The Canadian Greenfields Exploration summer intern will report to the most senior geologist on his/her field crew at the time of their rotation, but ultimately reports to the Senior Project Geologist, who will be on site regularly throughout the summer.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the KGEC group with prospecting, mapping and sampling
  • Assist with outcrop stripping
  • Conduct outcrop washing with a high pressure hose
  • Collect chip and/or diamond saw channel samples of mineralization and lithology for analysis
  • Assist with geoteching of drill core (on as needed basis)

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2nd or 3rd year Geology or Geological Engineering student
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge and skill with a PC utilizing office applications
