Career Opportunity

We have a great opportunity in our Stations Department. We are looking to hire a Manager, Stations Operations to oversee the daily operation and performance of Station Operations by planning, developing, and coaching the activities of section employees.

What You Will Do

As the Manager, Stations Operations, you will ensure customer needs are addressed in a timely and professional manner, recommending updates to security features and station equipment, and optimizing passenger flow throughout the Stations network. You will also be responsible for the development of high-level strategies, comprehensive business plans and associated performance measures to ensure departmental activities are carried out effectively.


In addition, you will lead the response to routine occurrences and emergencies by determining staff and a union workforce to achieve a high degree of employee morale and productivity.

You will analyze, review, establish resources, and performance measures to meet the challenges of long-range forecasts, expenditure and budget programs. Review resource allocation plans to ensure services are provided in a cost-effective manner.


You will implement and administer policies and regulations of the TTC to ensure an efficient, safe, reliable and courteous transit service through the use of modern technology.


You will supervise and manage section and/or unionized employees. Establish annual goals and objectives for overall group performance of operating personnel, including safety, customer service, route management and attendance management. Visiting stations and front line staff.


As the incumbent, you may be required to substitute for the Head of Stations. You will be required to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Ability to manage a 24 hour, 7 days per week operation.
  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. Business Administration) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Your application will indicate that you have several years of related and progressively responsible supervisory experience over a broad range of operational activities including proven project management skills
  • Your application will include strong supervisory in a large unionized workforce where you have managed, motivated, counselled, coached, disciplined, commended and assessed performance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business practices and procedures, business administration, TTC budgeting process, and human resources policies
  • Sound knowledge of policies, legislation, the Collective Agreement and initiatives affecting employees and work practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; good public speaking and presentation skills
  • Sound knowledge of policies, legislation, the Collective Agreement and initiatives
  • Will be required to obtain Subway Rule Book and WHIMIS certification
  • Must have or acquire a thorough knowledge of the TTC's organizational structure, functions, operations, policies and procedures as they relate to the work performed.
  • Sound judgement, highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Right Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
