Morguard is looking for a Painter/Plasterer to join our residential team at Rideau Towers, 35 Thorncliffe Park Dr, Toronto, ON M4H 1J3 & Leaside Towers, 85 Thorncliffe Park Dr, East York, ON M4H 1L5

PURPOSE

The Plaster/Painter is accountable to the Property Manager for skilled plastering and painting duties to ensure high-quality repairs and maintenance of rental apartment buildings while respecting the needs and privacy of tenants within occupied units.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Surface Preparation and Repair
Prepares surfaces for plastering or painting by cleaning, smoothing, and priming as necessary. Repairs cracks, holes, and other surface imperfections prior to plastering or painting. Conducts drywall repairs as needed, including patching holes, fixing cracks, and ensuring a smooth surface for painting or plastering. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape to protect surrounding areas.

Plastering
Applies plaster to walls, ceilings, or other surfaces, ensuring even coverage and smooth finish. Uses trowels, brushes, or spray guns to apply and spread plaster.

Painting
Applies paint or other finishes to surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Mix and match paint colors and textures for consistent application.

Project Materials and Supplies
Prepares cost, time, and material estimates for plaster repairs in occupied and vacant suites, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project planning. Places orders for materials and supplies required for plastering, drywall repairs, and painting projects.

Tenant Services
Performs repairs and general cleaning of the property as required (incl. painting, interior and exterior plastering, routine inspections, dry-walling, common area repairs etc.); keeps all maintenance repair logs for the property to ensure uninterrupted operation of non-vital building systems. Completes plaster repairs of their premises, occupied or vacant as well as common areas.

Any other job related duties and/or projects that may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in related trades.
  • Knowledge of MS office programs

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Ability to work around dust, paint fumes, and chemicals safely
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and to work on ladders, scaffolds, etc.
  • Must be comfortable working from heights and have strong manual dexterity
