Career Opportunity

As a Project Coordinator you will ensure the successful development and implementation of projects within the Transportation and Vehicles Group. You will provide coordination on project activities through project lifecycles, from initial planning to completion. By providing support you will ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.

What You Will Do

  • Working with TTC Groups/Departments and external agencies to ensure document compliance with policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Preparing, analyzing, monitoring and reconciling the annual budget of labor and non-labor, all financial control budget forms and goals & objectives.
  • Project Control and Scheduling. Supporting the Project Manager with project control inputs, attending meetings, providing schedule updates, and preparing project status reports.
  • Project and Procedure tracking including ensuring all project procedures meet timelines from initiation to finalization.
  • Preparing various written correspondence as relating to areas of responsibility including preparing project authorization documentation, drafting submissions and project documents.
  • Analyzing a variety of reports including monthly internal labor costs and general costs, and determining impact on project costs and budgets.
  • Improve on effective and efficient project delivery through reducing costs, expediting project schedules, delivering quality projects.
  • Documenting, reviewing and identifying opportunities to enhance the day-to-day operations;
  • Gathering requirements for new systems or technologies and working with Business Process Experts and other stakeholders to capture processes and perform analysis to develop recommendations;
  • Working with appropriate stakeholders to ensure successful integration of new systems, including updated procedures, processes and associated training;
  • Understanding and effectively applying appropriate procedures to collect, record and maintain accurate, detailed, relevant and logical notes, files and information;
  • Planning, executing, controlling and closing-out projects (including close out activities) in a disciplined manner.
  • Preparing detailed plans and schedules of implementation activities;
  • Define, monitor and review across all phases: Project Initiation, Planning, Execution and Control.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) or PMP (Project Management Professional) designation an asset.
  • Experience working in a Transportation environment with a focus on Operations is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and practices involving several technical fields.
  • Knowledge of cost control and scheduling techniques.
  • Strong project management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgement; well-developed analytical, administrative and leadership skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of section/department operations.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer based scheduling systems and other computerized applications related to the work (e.g. MS Project, Maximo, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Ability to be tactful, diplomatic and possess a high degree of interpersonal skills to communicate and deal with people effectively in difficult and stressful situations.
  • Able to direct and motivate and supervise TTC personnel and contract employees to achieve project completion.
  • Ability to effectively manage documents, records and information.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
  • This position may require a Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence.
