General Overview

As an M&E Project Manager, your primary responsibility is overseeing the Mechanical and Electrical scopes of work for ongoing Capital, Lifecycle, and client-driven projects at our existing facilities. It's essential to carry out all functions and responsibilities in alignment with the company's values and beliefs.

You, as a Project Manager, M&E, will:

  • Design Coordination, Estimation, Procurement, Planning, Vendor/Client Coordination, Execution, and Commission M+E related projects in coordination with our Facility Operators and Project Managers
  • Be able to execute work under various contracts. Majority of our facilities operate in the P3 environment so building familiarity with Contracts is required
  • The M+E Project Manager role will be supporting Project Managers with billings and reviewing mechanical and electrical subcontractor invoices
  • Review mechanical and electrical changes for ongoing and new projects to ensure they are complete and up to standards and review subcontractor prices on these changes
  • Provide expert advice and proactively report on delivery and performance, utilizing available tools and information while maintaining detailed, accurate and up to date records of site infrastructure, plant and equipment including product and technical information
  • Plan the mechanical and electrical components of a construction project, prepare and lead project meetings, determine the status of the job in terms of scheduling and costing, and solve complex technical issues
  • Provide a focal point liaison for the Hospital and Client on all aspect of the operational service
  • Constantly review the department's workload to achieve a cost effective and quality service
  • Establish necessary policies, procedures, action plans, critical indicators, timetables and performance measures to guarantee high quality services and timely deliverables to the customer
  • Follow up on open M&E deficiencies and drive them to closure
  • Review checklists to ensure the facility M&E commissioning activities may be accomplished
  • Maintain as-built drawings for all projects completed and update any discrepancies found on the sites
  • Assist the operating teams with technical support for equipment failures, preventative or planned maintenance, and provide input for capital planning and lifecycle upgrades
  • Work collaboratively with electrical/mechanical/controls subcontractors to ensure project and team success
  • Identify and develop areas of continuous improvement to achieve and better Key Performance Indicators and maintain an overall high level of service delivery
  • Monitor and report on expenditure, cost recovery and performance to ensure the most economic use of allocated budgets

Is this the right role for you?

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • P.Eng designation
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience
  • Experienced in the management of the projects end to end i.e. scope development, spec development, tendering review and evaluation, managing contractor installation, quality review, project close out, etc
  • You have a full understanding and proven experience with maintenance and life-cycle budgeting and are technically competent in understanding statutory and mandatory compliances and legislation
  • Experienced in the management of the projects end to end i.e. scope development, spec development, tendering review and evaluation, managing contractor installation, quality review, project close out, etc
  • Proficient in managing multiple ongoing projects simultaneously Experienced manager with proven skills in construction
  • Hospital/Health Care, P3, ICI construction experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload with limited supervision
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely and be part of a team environment
