As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Objective

  • Perform Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) analyses and assurance activities and produce related deliverables in accordance with the scope of the project at system level: Rolling Stock, Signaling, Power Supply, Communications.
  • Apply the applicable Alstom Engineering/RAMS processes & instructions.

Responsibilities

  • To perform the RAMS analyses as per the applicable instructions/processes and other specific requirements committed to the Customer.
  • To deliver RAMS analyses compliant with project commitments.
  • To address Customer/Independent Safety Assessor (ISA)/Partner comments to get approval on the RAMS deliverables within the limits of Alstom commitments.
  • To contribute to the assessment of the RAMS performance of the product and to the upstream identification of the necessary RAMS requirements to ensure the achievement of the RAMS targets.
  • To apply the Alstom/Engineering rules and processes, in particular those dedicated to RAMS activities.
  • To report on the progress of task and activities and alert the RAMS Manager in case of difficulty.
  • To have a pro-active challenging view on the RAMS data/results to enhance the adequacy/consistency of the RAMS studies and requirements.
  • To seek for the technical understanding of the Alstom products in order to better assess their safety performance and potential areas of improvement.
  • To adopt a product oriented mind-set in performing safety and RAM studies to foster the capitalisation of the results of the studies towards the product RAMS performance.
  • Interface with experts in other department as necessary to produce the deliverables.
  • Provide data to maintain applicable KPIs
  • Provide valuable feedback for REX sessions and continuous improvement
  • Prepare and support the procurement, construction, integration and validation phase
  • Identify risks, scope gaps and grey areas and escalates as needed in order to grant the schedule

Requirements

  • University Degree in Engineering
  • Good understanding of RAMS and system engineering processes: EN50126 and ISO15288
  • RAMS analysis and demonstration methods and tools and Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed (or eligible) with Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.)

Qualifications

  • Good Knowledge of railway systems and operations, available E&M equipment and Subsystem
  • Fluent in English
  • Structured and organised with hands-on approach
  • Knowledge of the rail construction environment and engineering practices
  • Good analytical skill is required
  • Open-minded
  • (Self) entrepreneurial
  • Problem setting and problem solving
  • Sense of urgency
