Job Description

  • Supports the Sustainability reporting and advisory function, focusing on disclosure requirements and related policies, procedures, and processes
  • Assists with the implementation of Sustainability reporting standards and regulations, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
  • Works closely and collaborates with the Sustainability team, and other teams as required (e.g. Legal, Investor Relations, Supply Chain, Financial Reporting & Advisory, etc.) to achieve Sustainability reporting deliverables and objectives
  • Contributes to and advises on the design and development of processes, procedures, internal controls and policies in Sustainability reporting
  • Supports Sustainability disclosure assurance and verification processes with internal and external auditors

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing implementation plans for new standards, with a focus on achieving compliance with the CSRD
  • Tracks and reports on actions in implementation projects, ensuring the projects remain on track and issues are proactively identified and remediated
  • Contributes to the review and reporting of Sustainability related financial and non-financial information to be filed with regulators and/or published externally
  • Monitors standard-setting and regulatory developments with respect to Sustainability related disclosures and reporting requirements from key bodies, including the Canadian Securities Administrators, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, European Union, Canadian Sustainability Standards Board, International Sustainability Standards Board, and European Financial Reporting Advisory Group, including analysis and evaluation of the impact on the company
  • Assists management in preparing presentations and/or recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team, Audit Committee and Board on Sustainability reporting and disclosure matters
  • Supports the development of a Sustainability reporting close process and the execution of the process
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of a Sustainability reporting policy manual, and creation/enhancement of standardized and controlled operational processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of Sustainability disclosures
  • Coordinates and collaborates regularly with operating business groups to ensure consistency in the operating and control environment related to Sustainability reporting
  • Supports the implementation of Sustainability data management systems to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency
  • Supports Sustainability reporting, data assurance and verification processes with internal and external auditors
  • Assists with the quantification of Sustainability impacts
  • Prepares benchmarking analysis of Kinross' disclosures and/or results against industry peers and other leaders in Sustainability reporting and provides recommendations for best practices with respect to Sustainability reporting standards, requirements, processes, policies and procedures
  • Contributes to other non-routine and special initiatives related to Sustainability
  • Reviews other corporate financial reporting and / or disclosures including the MD&A, Press Release, AIF, MIC, ESTMA reports, among others to ensure consistency with Sustainability reporting and disclosures
  • Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set and acts as a resource for colleagues

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA or international equivalent)
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • An ideal candidate will have post-qualification experience in a corporate accounting environment, preferably with exposure to assurance, sustainability reporting and/or internal controls
  • Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of finance processes and internal controls
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Knowledge of ESRS would be an asset
  • Ability to build relationships, work collaboratively, and communicate with people at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to understand operational processes, concepts, and metrics
