What You Will Do

Reporting to the Head, Track & Structures, the Senior Engineer is responsible for overseeing and implementing of asset management initiatives at the departmental level. The incumbent is responsible for developing reliability and quality assurance programs within the Track & Structure group. Other responsibilities include track level asset inspection including field level coordination. Responsible for overseeing external consultants, establishing levels of services and expectations, conducting statistical analyses, identifying improvements, trends and concerns, monitoring the implementation and asset management programs and related training and reporting on reliability and quality issues.

This involves:

  • Assisting the office of the Department Head of Track & Structures as lead change agent in the Implementation of the departmental asset management framework, plan, processes, procedures, and computer programs for Track & Structure alongside the Enterprise Assett Management initiatives currently underway
  • Assisting with the development & implementation strategies for computer based asset Management Plan associated with Maximo database applications within the groups
  • Acting as change agent / lead for Maximo database software implementation for Track & Structures group
  • Conducting data/statistical analyses to identify asset management trends and concerns as related to day to day operations within the groups
  • Monitoring & oversite for the development, implementation and training of Maximo data based asset management programs and framework for the Departmental goals within Track & Structures

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your application includes registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
  • Your application will also demonstrate Knowledge in areas of computer based software programs including but not limited to Maximo, MicroStation CADD and data mining software
  • Your educational background includes a University Degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, coupled with post graduate training in reliability, statistics and operations research, or the equivalent combined with extensive maintenance or quality experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge & skills pertaining to track assets & components coupled with Infrastructure maintenance principals gained through direct involvement or oversite in large scale projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of civil / mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Strong knowledge of operations & maintenance practices, quality assurance and reliability engineering
  • Technical expertise with regards to failure mode analysis and probability theory
  • Sound judgement, demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational and strategic planning abilities
  • Effective interpersonal, presentation, verbal/written communication and technical report writing skills
  • Strong computer skills specific to maintenance management applications programs used to gather, analyze and report data.
  • Proficiency in the use of a computer, programming languages, scripting languages, working knowledge of commonly used operating systems and Software Quality Management packages
  • Ability to develop and use reporting and analysis tools
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the work of other groups within the organization when developing reliability and quality assurance programs
