DESCRIPTION
The Procurement Infrastructure Team (POI) seeks a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to help shape the future of our platform, which serves as the authoritative source for everything Amazon orders from vendors and sellers to delight our customers. We own and manage the contracts between Amazon and its vendors, which outline the terms of sale—what Amazon wants to procure and the vendor's commitment to delivering those products on time and at the correct location.We manage the lifecycle of the purchase order until completion. We take action if fulfillment on time cannot be guaranteed, so Amazon can effectively, and timely receive products from where we can receive them. A day in the life
We are a two pizza service team, responsible for delivering on business impacting projects that raise the efficiency of Amazon's sourcing efforts. Projects take weeks to months to roll-out, and you are tasked with taking ownership from design, to implementation to rollout. We maintain procurement systems, and own the quality and health of the software stack. We support 2k+ tech teams, transportation, operations, all the way to associates in warehouses with a high bar for operational excellence.
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to develop, design, and bring to market innovative devices and services
Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry
Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to cutting edge technologies at incredible scale and speed
Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
