The Specialist, Sustainability & Social Impact is accountable for supporting the development, promotion, and communication of Holt Renfrew's sustainability and social impact strategies, commitments, and initiatives, and managing the company's social impact portfolio. Ensures that programs and initiatives enhance the company's reputation while bridging community and business goals to drive impact and gain visibility. The incumbent reports to and partners with the Director of Sustainability & Social Impact to engage internal and external stakeholders, and to provide strategic project support and guidance on sustainability and social impact to the business.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Support the execution of sustainability and social impact strategies, ensuring it's integrated and fully embedded into all departments within the business to enhance effectiveness, reputation and manage risk.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key metrics for the business to help determine the overall effectiveness and performance of the sustainability and social impact strategies, examples include but not limited to, sustainability dashboard and social impact tracker.
  • Develop and review internal and external communication materials that promote sustainability and social impact initiatives.
  • Remain current on all Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure frameworks and standards, regulations, and best practices and provide recommendations.
  • Research and analyze industry best practices, relevant innovations, and services that could inspire or enhance Holt Renfrew's sustainability and social impact strategies and further its reputation as a brand innovator in sustainability and social impact.

Social Impact

  • Manage the company's social impact portfolio and employee engagement programs.
  • Organize, track, and maintain the company's social impact reporting.
  • Review, respond and triage donation and sponsorship requests.
  • Support the CommUnity Care Committee within the company - developing ideas and plans, coordinating internal and external teams, and organizing a range of activities designed to increase awareness and participation.
  • Engage new and existing partners to identify new partnership opportunities, initiatives, and approaches designed to enhance Holt Renfrew's social impact strategy and entice employee volunteerism, while having a positive impact in the communities we operate in.

Reporting

  • Support Director, Sustainability and Social Impact on the development and production of the company's annual sustainability report and internal audit review.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, approvals, and maintain transparent communication.
  • Coordinate the collection, validation, analysis, and communication of Sustainability report and dashboard.

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field of study.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in sustainability, social impact, environmental science, sustainability consulting, or related roles.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and project management skills, with the ability to project lead multiple key projects effectively and simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of ESG disclosure frameworks, GHG reporting standards, and reporting guidelines.
  • Excellent data analytical skills and research skills with the ability to interpret complex environmental and social data/information.
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Goal, metric and results-oriented, with the ability to establish a keen sense of responsibility, accountability, and engagement among teams.
  • Dynamic, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity and change, and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with different departments and develop and maintain positive rapport with different stakeholders.
  • Sharing a passion for our mission and company core values, and a passion for sustainability in the fashion/lifestyle retail industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (Excel and PowerPoint), and Adobe.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures.
