What You Will Do

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Structure Inspection, this position is responsible for performing duties associated with providing assistance and technical support related to structural inspection and maintenance of existing tunnels, bridges and structures pertaining to the operation of rail vehicles. This position involves, but is not limited to, the preparation of inspection forms, providing assistance in conducting field inspection work, processing inspection field data, preparation of CADD drawings for inspection and repair/maintenance works, entering inspection data into and manipulation of computer databases and spreadsheets, assistance in the preparation, co-ordination, and administration of design packages for repair works as directed.


As a TTC employee you are responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer and you will also be participating in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your education includes a post secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (Civil/Structural Engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Your application demonstrates a strong background in inspection and / or repair/rehabilitation design of existing structures (e.g. bridges, buildings, retaining walls, etc.).
  • A solid comprehension of basic structural concepts.
  • Knowledge of CADD / MicroStation and / or structural design related software is an asset
  • Experience related to working in confined spaces or to working at heights is an asset
  • Must have or acquire sound knowledge of TTC policies and procedures.
  • The successful applicant may be required to attend and complete various in-house TTC training courses as defined by management.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
