This posting is for current and upcoming opportunities come join our team learn the skills needed to become a Structure Rehabilitation Vehicle Operator and be a part of the team in making our system run.
The work will normally be performed on night shifts with either 1. Thursday/Friday or 2. Sunday/Monday as off days and various work reporting locations, which may vary as directed by work assignments.
This is specialized and non-specialized service vehicle operation involving the safe and efficient operation of specialized and non-specialized work vehicles (specific to structure maintenance programs) such as, but not limited to vacuum cars, special purpose crane cars, tunnel leak repair car, flat cars, locomotives, combo units, flush cars, etc. The work entails the operation of specialized and non-specialized work vehicles for the delivery of tools, materials and equipment to work sites; operation of cranes, vacuums and other on-board equipment, loading and unloading cargo; pushing and/or pulling non-powered cars, etc.
The work will also involve the performance of daily safety service checks on the vehicles, and participation in the work of the Structure Repairperson duties when a vehicle is not available or required to be operated or attended to; duties may include operating wet blasting equipment and applying protective material on corroded rebar. Also required to perform mechanical and manual snow removal duties using powered work vehicles, work car mounted snow fighting equipment, shovels, snow blowers, salt spreaders, etc. as required, at track and street level areas; collecting refuse from related work sites and fueling vehicles and equipment as required; cleaning the subway and yard ROW including biohazards and sharps, partake in structure maintenance drainage operations, type 1 asbestos abatement, type 2 asbestos clean-up and MMMF removal as required.
The work is performed under the supervision of the Foreperson, Assistant Foreperson or their designate; with direct communication and instruction from Transit/Yard Control while operating in the subway and the yard network.
