Job Description

Site: Toronto General Hospital
Department: Surgical Program
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: $21.94 - $27.43 per hour
Status: Permanent Part-Time
Closing Date: January 23, 2025

As an integral member of the Pulmonary Function lab, the Technologist responsibilities include: performing various diagnostic pulmonary function tests on patients, cleaning and calibration of equipment. Technologist carries out tests according to American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society recommendation.

Duties:

  • Perform regular set up and calibration of lab equipment in line with American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society protocol
  • Maintains knowledge of current standards
  • Instruct patients for testing and adhere to the American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society recommendations.
  • Determine which test do not meet standards and document for physician interpretation.
  • Participation in training students
  • Participate in maintenance of standards through auditing, and reporting

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Human Physiology, Biology, Kinesiology, or student registry eligible for the Canadian Association of Cardio Pulmonary Technologist (CACPT)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laboratory policies, procedures, ATS guidelines, protocols and practices
  • Previous experience working with patients in a hospital or clinic environment preferred
  • Current BCLS certification
