Successful candidate will be classified as Track Maintainer Trainees for a period of 9 months, during which time the applicable training will be given. Upon successful completion of classroom and on-the-job training, candidates will be classified as a Track Maintainer (Wage Group 5).
You will receive training in performing labour and operation of small equipment related to the maintenance and construction of surface track, bus loops, loading platforms, tangent and special track-work installation, placing of concrete, or other paving materials, installation of drains, and performing a variety of work on electrical and manual switch mechanisms. The work will also involve the operation of a truck or special purpose vehicle. The work may be performed at either a surface location, the Way Maintenance Yard, and/or track maintenance and construction sites.
