You will provide expert technical advice and undertake projects and investigations related to traffic planning and engineering for some of the busiest and most complex highways in the world.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will: • Provide expertise in traffic analysis, traffic engineering methodologies and applications • Assess transportation infrastructure and analyze impact on traffic operations • Provide traffic engineering expertise in traffic modelling and forecasting tools, methodologies and applications • Provide traffic expertise for major highway planning and design initiatives, development proposals and legislation • Assist in development and delivery of technical training.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You are licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). • The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G Ontario driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
Traffic Engineering Knowledge:
• You have experience in the field of traffic management, traffic safety, traffic planning and engineering, traffic analysis and general highway engineering • You are able to interpret and apply relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. Highway Traffic Act)
Computer Skills:
• You are proficient with computer applications and methodologies to undertake engineering analysis, planning and operational-level traffic analysis • You have knowledge of statistical evaluation procedures related to various types of traffic data
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• You are able to communicate effectively to present technical material, provide advice and to prepare reports • You can present and promote design options and their implementation • You can work in a team environment and build and maintain successful working relationships • You are able to consult and provide advice to senior management on transportation engineering issues
Project Management and Analytical Skills:
• You have project management skills to plan, design and monitor projects • You use your analytical skills to plan and assess traffic engineering studies, resolve complex problems and make recommendations
