Come join our team as a trainee and learn the skills needed to become a Workcar and Crane Operator and be a part of the team in making our system run.
The work will normally be performed on the Night Shifts with Thursday/Friday as off days. The primary work location will be Greenwood Shop, however reporting locations will vary as dictated by work assignments.
This is a specialized motorized equipment and non-revenue rail vehicle operation involving the safe and efficient operation of rail work cars, flat cars, steel-wheeled snow removal equipment, etc. and includes operating specialized equipment such as cranes, High Rail Excavator, Geismar, Wacker, TRT, tamping car in work mode, etc. safely and efficiently.
The work entails the operation of rail work vehicles for the delivery of tools, materials and equipment to track construction sites, work and subway locations; loading and unloading cargo; pushing and/or pulling non-powered cars and tamping ballast, etc. The work will also involve the performance of daily service checks on the vehicles and work as a Track Maintainer or assisting with a wide variety of manual track constructions duties when a vehicle is not available for operations or required.
