Modern Niagara is seeking a Project Scheduler to join our Vaughan location. As an integral member of the Project Controls Team, you will lead the planning and schedule preparation process during pursuits and response to RFP documents in projects. The Project Scheduler is responsible for creating and maintaining project schedules, ensuring that timelines are met, resources are allocated efficiently, and dependencies are managed effectively. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to monitor progress, identify potential delays, and adjust schedules as needed to keep projects on track and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the organization during direct discussions with potential & current clients, throughout the project life cycle, as required by the Major Projects Team
  • Consulting with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Technical experts, within the Major Projects Teams - for the purposes of gaining information required.
  • Development of baseline mechanical schedules for Major M&E projects, within the organization.
  • Develop Manpower histograms, on a Project-by-Project basis and overall company requirement.
  • Support & Communicate with the MNTI Major Projects Team to determine the actual construction progress and provide regular schedule updates based on provided information.
  • Assist with the creation of Template schedules and other Project Controls tools, as developed.
  • Maintain the integrity of the project schedule for each project to identify and record the impact of work performed according to the schedule.
  • Provide progress reporting to project team to ensure subcontractors/crew reperformance in accordance with milestone dates of Baseline Schedule.
  • Prepare and maintain the project schedule log on a regular basis.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining a database of construction productivity rates, procurement durations, lead times and project risk items.
  • Identify unplanned events (new changes/unforeseen conditions) and incorporate their impacts into the schedule.
  • Develop schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations and available manpower and resources.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems including time impact analysis.
  • May interface with clients, attend regular meetings and give statistical reports.
  • Prepare standard progress reports for each assigned project.
  • Track the contract document requirements for schedule adherence, as well as change orders and contract amendments.
  • Interpret performance curve data and forecast productivity; provide manpower information for forecasting.
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of the company P6 Database (EPS)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, or engineering preferred. Technical training or related experience will also be considered.
  • 8-10 years' construction scheduling experience,
  • Strong communication skills and a proven Team Player
  • Strong technology skills. Experience in Oil & Gas would be considered an asset.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to review progress with field teams and update schedules.
  • Proficiency in various project controls software such as Excel, Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, and other company-specific software. Experience and working knowledge of Oracle P6 EPPM, Visualizer and Team Member would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced understanding of field construction operations and how a project is constructed, including logical sequencing of work through all phases of the project from pursuit to project closeout.
  • Understanding on mechanical installation process
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing work under strict timelines and being flexible to changing needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Critical Path Scheduling method related to the construction industry.
