Position Title: Intermediate Technology Specialist, Integration
Reports To: Lead Technology Manager, Data Platforms
Department: IT Data and Analytics
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity: The Intermediate Technology Specialist, Integration will be accountable for the solutioning of the API Management components, will manage APIM service instances and create the APIs, operations, and products that are used by developers to unlock the potential of their data and services. This role will also support the Azure Datawarehouse and associated underlying technologies.


What you will be doing:

  • Develop, maintain and define continuous integration activities on the DevOps platform to support the development activities across the Azure space
  • Determining project requirements and contributing to work schedules for the team.
  • Delegating technical tasks and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly goals for the platform
  • Liaising with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.
  • Identifying risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Analyzing existing operations and scheduling training sessions and meetings to discuss improvements.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, cost models, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies as they relate to the APIM platform
  • Building and optimizing data pipelines, data architectures and data sets.
  • Design, develop and maintain automation framework for iterative software development and testing, specifically Bicep and DevOps deployment capabilities
  • Develop and maintain build scripts to automate deployments for multiple environments including dev/test, QA, and production.
  • Provide operational support, including participation in on-call rotation, and develop robust solutions that provide monitoring, logging and alerting capabilities.
  • Participate in architecture review, reviewing technology designs and best practices.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly software releases of frontend and backend services hosted on Azure


What you will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in integration delivery, including API design, development, testing, security, governance, and monitoring.
  • strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud resources, like Azure APIM, Synapse and Data factory
  • Certifications in AZ-900, DP-900. AZ-400 or DP-203 are an asset
  • Understanding of network, storage, server, and application technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack - network, storage, server, and applications
  • ITIL Certification is an asset
  • Experience with IaC with ARM templates and biceps.
  • Java, Python, PySpark, PowerShell, C#/.NET, Bash.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of integration architectures, patterns, principles, and best practices.
  • Experience with planning, scheduling and executing production deployments for web applications including supporting artifacts such as Database Schema migrations as well as orchestration through CI/CD Pipelines
  • Experience in agile methodologies and DevOps tools.
