In this role you will manage the Production and Packaging Teams and provide strategic direction and guidance in manufacturing, process and system improvement, quality performance and strategic capacity development. Responsible for the output needs for both Drug Product Services (DPS) and Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS) production ensuring that all manufacturing commitments and deliveries are on time and that strategic plans for capacity improvement and utilization are developed and implemented. Fully support and actively participate in the Quality Improvement process.
What will you do?
Develop and manage strategic plans for capacity, efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
Supervise, coordinate, direct daily production activities in alignment with Site and Corporate KPI's.
Represent the Production department during all regulatory and safety audits as well as during client visits.
Support and offer advice on technical related issues.
Troubleshoot problems and initiate investigations.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with subordinates, upper management and other departments.
Support the developments and implementation of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and procedures ensuring compliance with all regulatory and corporate Quality standards.
Provide support in validation and qualification of product, equipment, and utilities.
Ensure products are manufactured in compliance with Health Canada, FDA or other global regulatory standards, as appropriate.
Develop staff to ensure a well-motivated, versatile, and fully trained department, including career path and succession plan development.
Prepare monthly departmental reports, contribute to budget and capital expenditure preparations.
Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards, and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
Select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with and advise staff on administrative policies and procedures.
How will you get here?
Education
Minimum Bachelors degree in Science or Chemical Engineering and/or Business required
Experience:
Minimum 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Minimum 5 years experience managing direct reports
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional Good Manufacturing Practices knowledge.
Demonstrated decision making capabilities.
Proven ability to coach and develop staff as well as the technical ability to coordinate departmental business activities.
Strong leadership, team building and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to balance/maintain conflicting goals, responsibilities, and priorities of the organization. Demonstrated success as agent of change.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to motivate and lead.
Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share point).
Proficiency with the English language.

Physical Requirements:
Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits, or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasionally.
