About the Job

As the Human Resources Business Partner for our Grease Trap Services group, you will work hand in hand with business leaders to provide business analysis and be the point of contact for employee and labour relations advice. You will manage the compensation and performance management programs, lead training initiatives, and head the recruitment process. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, hands-on HR professional who thrives in a multi-tasking environment, lives in the grey, and is skilled at supporting an hourly unionized and non-unionized workforce to ensure a harmonious and supportive work environment.

As a member of the HRBP Team, you will report directly to the Divisional Human Resources Manager, with a dotted line to the Director of Resource Recovery and Operations. You will be based at our office in Woodbridge, supporting operations locally and nationwide. Up to two days working remotely is available, as well as travel to local Walker sites as required.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Liaise with hiring managers and recruiting agencies to facilitate the staffing process, with the assistance of the Talent Acquisition Specialist, conducting interviews and candidate assessments
  • Support both a unionized and non-unionized hourly and salaried workforce, having a solid understanding of labour relations processes
  • Assist with performance management issues, manage the termination process, prepare needed documentation, and advise on content of packages
  • Knowledgeable on company policies, procedures, and legislation as the point of contact to inquiries from Managers and employees
  • Lead the disability management claims, liaise with third party adjudicators, and assist in the Company's safe & early return to work program with your Health & Safety Coordinator counterpart

Here's What You Need

  • You have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Human Resources, or related HR roles, with at least three (3) years in a HR Business Partner/Generalist role
  • You have expertise in supporting a unionized and non-union hourly workforce and a solid understanding of labour relations processes
  • You have a post-secondary College Diploma or University Degree with a concentration in Human Resources, CHRP is required
  • A valid G Ontario Driver's Licence in good standing is required for this position, as well as access to a vehicle for travel to local Walker sites
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, allowing you to build solid relationships with stakeholders at all levels

  • Experience in heavy industry, transportation, or related sectors is considered a strong asset
