The Role:

As part of the growth of Egis into North America our Geotechnical team is expanding its service offerings and expanding in Eastern Ontario. The Geotechnical group boasts a foundations engineering group with experience in delivering solutions spanning residential to large-scale infrastructure projects for both private and public sector clients. To supplement the foundations team, the geotechnical team is complimented by seasoned pavement engineers specializing in expert pavement design, evaluation, and management. Our team is well-equipped to handle diverse challenges, and operating two CCIL certified laboratories, we ensure rigorous testing for soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. As an integral part of Egis' unwavering commitment to a diverse clientele, our geotechnical team plays a pivotal role in ensuring project success.

As a part of the expansion of the Geotechnical Team, Egis is looking for a person to lead our Ottawa based team and support the services offered by our laboratory.

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Being a licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Possession of a Graduate Degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering is an asset.
  • A minimum of 15 years of consulting experience in Ontario.
  • Knowledge and working experience with applicable regulations, codes, and guidelines such as CFEM, CHBDC, OPSS, OBC, etc.
  • Experience in Geotechnical design and preparing investigation reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in slope stability analysis software and settlement and consolidation analysis.
  • Having strong written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical leadership for the growth and development of MP's Foundations group towards to goal of becoming a top Foundations service provider to MTO.
  • Leading geotechnical engineering design and ensuring adherence to the project schedule and budget.
  • Actively leading and supporting a positive, respectful and results oriented work environment ensuring consistency with core values.
  • Assisting with ensuring proper project planning is in place and resourcing of the team to ensure the effective execution of projects.
  • Overseeing the technical work of and providing guidance to the design team.
  • Preparing designs and recommendations, writing, or reviewing geotechnical & soil investigation reports, specifications and other deliverables related to a variety of geotechnical projects and stamping such reports.
  • Occasionally Attend requested technical discussion meetings with clients relating to the geotechnical design and related recommendation concerns.
  • Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with the geotechnical VP to establish good client relationships dealing with geotechnical design projects/opportunities.
  • Playing an active role in business development activities and marketing by establishing and maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Specifying site investigation and laboratory testing requirements.
  • Attending site and office meetings as necessary.
