The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the facilities, layout, and machinery used to produce and deliver precast concrete manufactured products run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total predictive and preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment (including software programming), people management and budgetary/cost reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, train and develop a high-performing maintenance team, ensuring they meet objectives and adhere to company guidelines.
  • Develop and implement shift schedules while managing labour resources to ensure that the appropriate staffing levels are maintained. Direct and lead the Maintenance team in scheduling, preventative maintenance, and repair of all production equipment, including building maintenance.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment through compliance with the company's policies and Health and Safety Program.
  • Develop and maintain a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program/schedule, ensure full predictive and preventative maintenance is carried out to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Schedule both internal and external work optimizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime.
  • Coordinate with all outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations and standards.
  • Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems are undertaken.
  • Assist Operations Manager and Senior Management with establishing and implementing operating and capital budgets; ensure maintenance operates within budget parameters.
  • Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant, and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
  • Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant, and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to maintain continuous production.
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
  • Develop, implement, and manage work associated with key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and machine performance.
  • Work as part of the Operations team to share ideas and gain greater efficiencies, recommend, support and implement continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery.
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy.

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree. MMP certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum five years plant maintenance / facility maintenance experience with a minimum of two years in a leadership capacity.
  • Extensive plant level experience with significant proven people management experience.
  • Completed a fully indentured apprenticeship with a mechanical/electrical/electronic discipline.
  • Technical capability and understanding.
  • Familiarity with OHSA standards relating to industrial and construction operations.
  • Experience with PLC controls, PC's, PM and TPM systems.
  • Experience in managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for maintenance.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
