BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA has openings for Quality Control Chemists. These are full-time positions located in Charlottetown, PE. Rotating shift work will be required.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Executing modern bioanalytical methodologies for the analyses of plasmid DNA and mRNA products using techniques such as Next-Gen Sequencing, Sanger Sequencing, UV-VIS, cIEF, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, qPCR, MS, and HPLC.
  • Supporting analytical qualification/validation and method transfer activities as well as the overall method and analytical process lifecycle by reviewing analytical validation data and contributing to modification of protocols, reports and work instructions as required.
  • Supporting the incident programs (deviation, laboratory investigation, etc.), including participating in OOS investigations and contributing to investigations of major incidents.
  • Maintaining accurate, real-time records of all laboratory activities.
  • Completing paperwork for release of materials including status labels and certificates of analysis.
  • Performing routine maintenance and/or calibration of analytical instruments and documenting these activities.


The successful candidate for this position should have:

  • Post- secondary diploma in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or similar field
  • B.Sc./ MSc. degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related fields considered an asset.
  • Two years' experience of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Technical proficiency with laboratory instrumentation such as GC, HPLC, UV-VIS. CE-SDS, cIEF, SDS-PAGE, IEF, ELISA, qPCR, MS and Western Blot is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience performing sanger sequencing or preparing NGS libraries is considered an asset.
  • Experience with bioinformatics workflows (and/or with Basespace, Geneious, Snapgene, Clone Manager, etc) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP guidelines
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
