As a Terminal Operator you will be responsible for providing contractor oversight through area inspections and ensuring contractor safety through Lockout Tag Out (LOTO), Gas Detection and issuing work permits. The operations area of distribution has a mandate to ensure safe and accurate loading and unloading of product and recording of inventory. This position contributes to that mandate by aiding in the day-to-day activities required to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of equipment and inventory and quality control of product in terminals.

Your Responsibilities:
Complete Safety Training and develop a strong understanding of Irving Oil policies and standards
Complete security and operational rounds to ensure the safety, security and mechanical integrity of systems throughout the terminal
Maintain and demonstrate a good understanding of the Terminal systems, equipment and operating procedures
Issue Work Permits and support contractor safety through area inspections and ensuring Irving Oil processes and standards are followed
Gauging tanks, reconciling inventory, and ensuring equipment is operational as a means of maintaining inventory and protecting the company from environmental emergencies
Participate in product receipt activities by ensuring equipment is properly assembled and monitored
Ensure a high quality of Irving Oil products through quality control including sampling and testing incoming product and inventory supply
Performs preventative maintenance through the completion of regular checklists and operating procedures on equipment to ensure maximum utilization and longer life span
Have the ability to recognize customer/driver needs and determine and apply solutions in a timely manner
Recognize hazards and manage risks
Must be willing and able to work a rotational shift including nights and weekends and have flexibility to cover on call or additional shifts as required
Demonstrate tact and courtesy in interactions, such as, providing assistance to drivers, customers and contractors as needed

Your Experience:
High School Diploma required. Community College or technical training is an asset
Experience in the oil and gas industry an asset
Additional relevant and applicable experience in handling hazardous materials or or secondary schooling is a strong asset
Understanding of Process Safety Management and an understanding of their required active participation
