Since 1978 Air Inuit has been providing scheduled, charter, cargo, and emergency air transportation services in Nunavik and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through the Makivvik Corporation, the airline operates a fleet of over 35 aircraft ranging from a Twin Otter 300 Series to Boeing 737 200C, 300 and 800 and employs over 1000 employees in one of the most challenging aviation environments.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Cargo Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe handling, storage, and transportation of goods. This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and operational experience to oversee cargo operations and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all cargo operations at the station with precision and efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce company-defined cargo procedures, inspections, and policies.
  • Assist the Base Manager with various tasks, including planning, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Monitor performance on a daily basis and quickly remedy any operational shortcomings or failures.
  • Supervise Air Inuit personnel and subcontractors to ensure adherence to all safety measures and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Transport Canada and other relevant government regulations.
  • Perform any additional tasks required to maintain operational efficiency of the base.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
  • Punctual, reliable, and capable of working under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a cargo agent or handler.
  • Certified in the transport of dangerous goods.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems.
  • Forklift driving experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Nunavik stations.
  • Availability for occasional training travel.
  • If hired locally, the work base will be Kuujjuaq.
  • If not hired locally, the candidate will have no assigned base.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Rotational position: 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off OR 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off
  • If the position cannot be filled locally, airfare from Montreal and room and board will be included.
