This is a unique opportunity for you to work with experts and engineering professionals across Canada on interesting and challenging projects. Working closely with our experts, senior engineers and designers on heavy industrial projects in the mining and power sectors including studies, the Earthworks and Infrastructure Engineer will act as a technical resource on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to directly apply and develop their knowledge in earthworks and infrastructure design and project execution.

As a Earthworks and Infrastructure Engineer at BBA, you will play a key role in engineering projects, from feasibility studies, to design and field implementation. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, this role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical quality and the development of new business opportunities.

  • Participate in the various stages of the design and production of engineering documents.
  • Participate in elaborating civil and utilities drawings.
  • Design access roads, underground services (sewers, aqueducts, fire protection), drainage systems, and earthworks in heavy industry sectors such as mining and metals, energy and petrochemicals.
  • Optimize and select preferred site layouts.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and technical reports.
  • Prepare construction plans and specifications for civil works.
  • Prepare estimates, bills of quantities, schedules, budgets, specifications and reports.
  • Plan, organize and assess work.
  • Attend construction site inspections and audits.
  • Establish key client relationships and actively participate in business development.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching of junior engineers and designers, actively sharing knowledge and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team.
  • Coordinate work with other civil engineers and technicians and with other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure quality control of the work of engineers and technicians.
  • Assess client satisfaction and maintain close and harmonious relationships with clients and their representatives.
  • Assess engineering hours and prepare proposals.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Member of a professionnal engineering association
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in designing infrastructures, such as roads, underground utility networks, drainage systems and earthworks
  • Proficiency in technical writing
  • Knowledge of Civil3D
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Available for short-term assignments at client offices or sites as well as site visits
  • Proven track record of delivering projects of rigorous, high technical quality and exceeding client expectations
  • Hands on project experience in mine plant site and infrastructure design
  • Diverse portfolio of work experience in industrial and mining projects
  • Collaborative approach to finding innovative solutions to project needs
