Bilingual (French/english) Waste and Tdg Coordinator

• Creating/Providing input to Waste Enquiry Form and Waste Information Form, ensuring waste generation is completed in accordance with the Waste Information Forms at the site.
• Providing practical solutions to efficiently manage waste being generated at the offsite. This includes performing periodic field walk-downs of all areas of the facility to review the waste storage area.
• Entering waste shipment into the Waste tracking software.
• Providing input to the Waste Characterization Plans interfacing with waste characterization specialists.
• Conducting Waste Management self-assessments.
• Participating/sponsoring Waste Management Program-led waste surveillance.
• Preparing the waste management section for the Annual Compliance Monitoring Report for the site.
• Keeping up-to-date waste inventory and waste forecast, providing this information as requested by the CNL programs for Waste Management Planning activities.
• Reviewing Work Control Packages to ensure the proposed work aligns with the Waste Management Program.
• Acting as the point of contact for all waste function related questions for the site.
• Implementing of the CNL Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Program, producing transportation and shipping records and qualifying as TDG Shipper for the offsite (including Radioactive Material, RAM shipper).
• Providing practical guidance with regard to TDG for the team, developing or providing input TDG site-specific standard and conducting TDG Program self-assessment.
• Participating/sponsoring TDG program-led waste surveillance.
• Producing the TDG section for the Annual Compliance Monitoring Report.
• Participating in inspections and audits.
• Acting as the point of contact for TDG function-related questions for the site.
• Being an integral part of the Operation and Decommissioning Project Delivery team and providing input as required in reviewing and producing documents related to achieving the mission.
• Participating in strategy meetings as SME for Waste Management and TDG.
• Participating in Waste Management and TDG Programs update, reviewing of Program Requirement Document and Program Description Document for those programs with the perspective of implementation at the site.
• Ensuring compliance with the program, proposing solutions, and implementing actions to address any gaps identified.
• Being the point of contact for all waste related questions for the site.

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education. OR
  • • Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and normally has more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
• Experience
  • Operational knowledge of waste management processes and streams.
  • Experience in waste processing, including sorting and segregation, packaging, transportation, and minimization techniques.
  • Operational knowledge of waste management planning guidance in alignment with CNL waste management processes and procedures.
  • Experience with the application of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations.
    
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work against an agreed delivery schedule with the ability to identify and understand risks and issues to delivery as well as being able to clearly communicate and escalate these when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work as part of a team, as well as the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks with excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Arrange/perform in field waste walk-downs, oversee and lead waste generation activities, attend planning meetings, review and provide guidance to work planning;
  • Providing technical support to specific projects, where required, to improve technical and project performance.
  • Developing detailed strategies and plans for managing specific types of nuclear wastes with non-radiological hazardous constituents (e.g., Mixed Wastes).
  • Nuclear Safety and Control Act and underpinning regulations.
  • Canadian Waste Management Regulations.
  • International Waste Management Regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

• Team environment on a daily basis.
• Mixture of Office and Field Observation across a number of different facilities (e.g. legacy labs and reactor buildings, operational labs).
