BBA is looking for an intermediate water treatment engineer to join our Montréal team and take charge of carrying out water treatment projects and seeking new business opportunities.

In this role, you'll support operations and play a key role in a wide range of projects, including water treatment for mining sites, metallurgical plants as well as metallurgical and industrial processes, camp drinking and domestic water treatment, groundwater treatment, and water treatment for site remediation and passive treatment techniques.


Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert and assist by providing guidelines and mentoring on complex water treatment issues, as well as for pilot plant studies and laboratory testing of water treatment.
  • Provide technical advice, in your area of expertise, for multidisciplinary work scopes.
  • Coordinate with project management teams and other discipline leaders to manage project deliverables (study, design, execution and commissioning phases), ensuring that budgets and schedules are respected.
  • Work with other BBA departments and offices as well as environmental regulators on project-related work.
  • Research and develop new business opportunities in water treatment in the mining and industrial sectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering (a master's degree or doctorate would be an asset)
  • Fluent in French written and spoken (bilingual [English and French] would be an asset)
  • From 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in the municipal or industrial sector (mining experience would be an asset)
  • Proficient in analyzing and modelling techniques to establish mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams and P&IDs
  • Knowledge and understanding of all stages of mine development and operation, and knowledge of certain metallurgical and industrial processes
  • Demonstrated ability, gained through experience, to write proposals and work plans
  • Experience as a consultant essential
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or eligibility criteria met
  • Ability to travel to mine or project sites, as required
  • Asset: Experience with the following software (or equivalent): Aspen HYSYS, OLI (electrolytes), Hydranautics and AutoCAD
