Your future role on our team

BBA is growing and looking to expand their team! We have an established Power and Renewables business line, which is made up of the Renewables, Transmission and Distribution (T&D), Wind and Solar, Storage, Hydropower and Industrial Power groups. We want to strengthen our position in the T&D and Power markets across Canada. In this intermediate leadership role, you will serve as the project manager in charge of the T&D and Power markets and will be responsible for developing large scale T&D opportunities across Canada and executing strategic projects. You'll leverage your team members' expertise, industry-knowledge, client relationships and engineering experience to achieve our objectives. You'll focus on solidifying and growing our T&D market presence, supporting the Director - T&D and lead unique large-scale transmission, distribution and storage projects.

Your work in action

  • Lead strategic T&D and Energy Storage projects while ensuring compliance with contracts, code, regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Liaise with other project managers, discipline leads and team leaders to develop effective project and program plans, processes, procedures and schedules.
  • Liaise with T&D clients, independent power producers (IPPs), generation developers, power utilities and regulatory bodies to build strong technical solutions and nurture long-term relationships.
  • Develop transmission and distribution project opportunities nationally involving electrical substations, high‑voltage transmission lines, medium‑voltage distribution lines, client substations and energy storage projects.
  • Respond to client requests for proposals (RFPs) for strategic projects through creative thinking, alternative approaches and win strategies.
  • Support the execution of the market strategy and annual action plans.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in T&D markets, providing crucial technical, market and technology expertise.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, mentoring and support to local and national engineering teams.
  • Provide team innovation by bringing together knowledge, best practices and planning functions while working in conjunction with the Director - T&D to implement long-term market sector objectives and strategies.
  • Build and nurture strong professional relationships within your external professional circles and across the power and renewables markets in Canada and the U.S.
  • Identify any capability gaps and implement teaming requirements needed to win.

Overview of certifications and job requirements:

  • Engineering degree from a recognized university and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) within a Canadian province, with electrical or mechanical disciplines being preferred; or a suitable combination of qualification(s) in a relevant discipline and applicable experience
  • At least 10 years of relevant power sector or electricity industry experience
  • Have 3 or more years of experience in technical consulting, transmission or distribution utilities or generation development industries, with a project execution and/or operations experience
  • Proficiency in project management, including experience leading projects and managing these teams to deliver on objectives within established constraints
  • Strong market knowledge of renewable energy, vertical utilities and/or wholesale power markets, specifically in subsets of transmission and distribution engineering disciplines, including, but not limited to, protection and control, T&D line design, substation design, digital power systems, power automation, energy storage and thermal or renewable generation
  • Experience in T&D equipment selection, bid specifications, land and environmental issues, permitting, electrical studies, etc.
  • Strong communication, people and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international destinations
  • Experience in construction, commissioning supervision and/or coordination
  • Experience with power generation and/or power utility (high and medium voltage)
  • Strong personal network within the power and/or renewable energy sector
  • Experience with budgeting, estimating and/or scheduling
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
