Tasks

  • Lead and develop the R&D team as well as the quality control processes, ensuring a creative and precise environment to meet the needs of users and installers of polymer flooring;
  • Drive continuous improvement for R&D products and testing protocols, as well as quality control;
  • Provide leadership and technical direction throughout all stages of interdisciplinary R&D projects to meet objectives and deadlines;
  • Oversee the team's project portfolios and take on certain new product development initiatives;
  • Coordinate with production teams to scale up manufacturing from lab batches to production runs, while also liaising with the sales team or customers for technical support;
  • Ensure documentation, use, and continuous improvement of the ERP system and SOP processes related to the laboratory modules;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job requirements

  • Degree in Materials and Surface Engineering.
  • Ideally, a solid practical and theoretical understanding of physics, engineering, and chemistry (to a lesser extent).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, ideally in the polymer sector for floor coatings or other surfaces.
  • Experience with ASTM testing of complete systems and individual products, ensuring the proper operation of various equipment used to test yellowing (DELTA E), hardness (Shore D), elongation at break, tensile strength, compression strength, abrasion, friction coefficient, peel test, impact resistance, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the mechanical behavior and chemical resistance properties of polymer coatings.
  • Knowledge of industrial standards related to laboratory management, including the safe use, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
  • Experience in leadership roles, managing and mentoring scientists and engineers from various disciplines, while overseeing research and development projects will be considered.
