Construction Director

Tasks

• Prepare and submit project budgets and timelines for approval by the Vice-President of Construction.
• Manage and analyze the cost estimation process for development projects, ensuring budget optimization and selecting the best bids during contract award.
• Supervise the execution of construction projects in collaboration with subcontractors and superintendents, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
• Review and approve all construction plans before the bidding period and contract award to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Update project schedules and budgets on a weekly basis, identifying and anticipating potential discrepancies.
• Manage construction schedules, organize site personnel, and control weekly site progress reports to ensure efficient project advancement.
• Review all ongoing work in detail to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, company standards, and contractual commitments made with the tenant.
• Supervise and train foremen to ensure optimal project execution while fostering their skills development.
• Perform any other related duties as needed.

Job requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in industrial and commercial construction.
• At least 5 years of management experience.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, autonomy, initiative, and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and Yardi (an asset), with a comfort in using new technologies.
• Advanced proficiency in English is required, with approximately 50% of interactions being with English-speaking clients.
