About this opportunity:

Working directly with the Senior Coordinator and the Facility Operations team the Coordinator is accountable for meeting all facility targets related to safety, production, cost, and reliability. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Safety and Regulatory standards and procedures. The Coordinator is also responsible for the effective leadership of the operating team and for the safe and efficient operation of the facility. The Coordinator will ensure all the standards and expectations of Cenovus's organizational culture are met.

Work Environment:

  • This position is in the Lloydminster District and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

  • This is a full-time employee position working a 7-7 schedule rotating days and nights.

  • This position is for the Dee Valley and Pike's Peak South Thermal facilities in the Lloydminster Thermal area approximately 50kms east of the city.

What you'll do:

  • Provide leadership to effectively manage the facilities workforce by improving team efficiency. Coach and mentor direct and indirect reports by providing regular feedback through one-on-one meetings, observations in the workplace, and in regular meetings

  • Responsible to ensure the facility's operation is following all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations

  • Accountable to ensure all facility inspections, audits and exercises are completed

  • Participate in Incident Investigations, Briefs, De-briefs, and Safe Work Plans and ensure Lessons Learned are managed accordingly

  • Develop effective working relationships with other work groups within Cenovus including Surface Land, Engineering, Projects, Well Servicing as well as with all external partners

  • Ensure accuracy and prompt reporting of all operations records (e.g., volume balances, log sheets, work permits, and required reports)

  • Communicate plant status reports, as required to the necessary level of Management

  • Participate in Emergency response exercises or Emergency response situations as needed

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • A minimum of a Third-Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency is required, with a preference for a Second-Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency

  • 8+ years' proven experience in Oil and Gas Industry such as a Petrochemical Refinery, Upgrader or SAGD is required. Experience in other industries like Pulp and Paper or Power Generation will be considered

  • Leadership and Supervisory experience and direct reports is considered an asset

  • Experience in SAGD Process, Steam and Production Well operation.

  • Gas Process Operations (GPO)/Production Field Operations (PFO) levels I, II, III, & IV or A, B, C & D

  • Experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance.

  • Experience in safe work permitting and hazard analysis

  • Skilled level of understanding of processes and associated control systems including PLC (programmable logic control) and DCS (distributed control system)

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
